NEW – Sketchbook Classes Online!
Based on a simple an imaginative sketchbook/journal format, Wellow Art Academy Sketchbook Project (known as WAASP) was launched in response to the COVID-19 lockdown, to provide students with more than just online lessons.
The WAASP project is filmed in my Isle of Wight studio (Wellow Art Academy which is a bright and busy converted mobile home here in my West Wight garden).
The idea of the project is to create a lasting and beautiful piece of work through a sketchbook; learning simple techniques and getting inspiration through mini-lessons will allow you to switch off and find a calm and enjoyable moment in the day through drawing and painting.
The twice-weekly, online lessons are fun and relaxed and are carefully constructed to be accessible and fun for all ability levels using the most basic artists’ materials.
Within the members area, subscribers have access to forum where they can share ideas and perhaps post photos of their work.
Lessons are ‘rolling’ in that there is no beginning or end to the course, simply a continuation of different topics and enough advice, demonstrations and helpful links to get you creating.
I currently also offer a weekly Zoom catch up call but if this is not your thing then there is a Contact us section within the site.
The emphasis is not about producing polished, anatomically ‘correct’ drawings, paintings and sketches but about enjoying the moment, learning something new and fun and knowing that you are part of a very supportive and encouraging community of sketchers, all working on the same theme at the same time.
A weekly subscription of £10, payable on the website through our secure and encrypted Paypal integration gives you access to two videos a week, accompanying lesson notes and links, a members forum and gallery. There is also the chance to drop in to a weekly Zoom chat where we put names to face and discuss the lessons.
