About Julie Sajous, artist and art teacher
If you are interested in finding out more about Julie Sajous (me!) then read on…
I trained as a Fashion Designer at Kingston Poly and worked in the fashion industry. Later in my career I became a Lecturer in Fashion Design.
Whilst raising my family, I worked with ceramics, plastercasting, painting and illustration.
Now settled on the Isle of Wight, my working days are spent either painting or teaching. I work in a quirky, light filled garden studio, which was once a neglected mobile home. My paintings are sometimes figurative, sometimes abstract and I have sold work through local and international art galleries.
I am inspired by the constantly changing countryside around me. With so many stunning and varied subjects to paint, from landscapes to seashore I am never short of subject matter.
With the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, I rediscovered my love of sketching and now take a sketchbook with me wherever I go. This has influenced both my own work and my teaching. I have taught art and design for thirty years now and run regular art classes, one-off workshops, online lessons and art retreats. With the development of my online classes I am now teaching students from around the world as well as here on the Isle of Wight!
I find it so rewarding to see my students gain confidence and develop their own styles.
